One Last Training Day

powerliftingwatch snippet

My Monday training was short and sweet.  Weights flew off the floor and form seemed tight.  The icing on the cake is that I didn't have any pain (which has been unusual as of late).  Though everything seems to be going according to plan, this is the time when the mental game begins.  The weights prescribed for the day were lighter than usual and the volume was significantly less ( the taper is for peaking).  It makes people second guess the their strength levels and can make for miserable days prior to the meet.  Mind you; there is no money on the table ... just a little pride.  This is when we have to trust the training program and just blindly follow it.  I've seen it work just as many times as I've seen it fail (due to some tinkering).

Wednesday is my last training day before the meet. I've managed to flip my night schedule by staying up all night and day.  I will sleep tonight and awake a "day walker" for the first time in a few months. I will work for three days and take Friday off to visit the command center.  It's been a while since I've been there and I'd like to have my bearings.  It is a pleasure to lift at the Gary Gordon Memorial because he represents the best qualities of our soldier / sailors.  We'll have teams lifting via streaming video from Iraq and Afghanistan too.  This should be very cool.
