As promised, I posted a few more pics from the meet.  Every time I do one of these things, I get a renewed sense of direction.  I don't think I'm alone on this one because there are a lot of people that put a lot of time and energy into the sport.  It's not for the money because there isn't any.  It's not for the fame because it's still an underground sport.  So what is the fascination?

I personally feel that powerlifting is a perfect metaphor for life in general.  To me it seems that in this life you are basically on your own moving an immense weight.  It can feel crushing; like it's going to suffocate you.  Essentially, life is pain with a few pleasurable moments ( if you are lucky enough to be aware of them) and then you die.   Powerlifters consciously choose to voluntarily take that pain and make pleasure out of it.  Make no mistake.  We hurt for days after a meet, but we can't wait to do it all again.

If you think that is crazy then you probably wouldn't understand the burning desire to total 10X body weight either.

I agree that it must be hard to understand why anyone of my physical stature would regularly get under a quarter ton for enjoyment, but I guess we all get to be a little crazy from time to time,
