Gain Muscle & Lose Fat With This Weird Trick ;-)

Our typical soft box setup for squat.
I've been too busy with my day job to do any real research, so I decided to rant about something already ranted by a fellow blogger :-)
There have been lots of ads cropping up in all sorts of magazines and websites.  These particular ads all share a common trait in that they start out with a promise that a large consumer demographic wants and end in "...with this weird trick."  It is B.S. and just another sales ploy to hook people who know very little about the ad's topic.  That brings me to a common gripe of mine and the main reason most people fail to get the results they want in the gym.

Nothing worth having is EASY or FREE.
Other bloggers agree that you must seek strength to gain size!
Mehdi Hadim, author for StrongLIfts.com, tells his readers what I've been saying for years.  Fundamental free-weight exercises are the foundation of strength which is the foundation of a muscular, lean body.  When he said that high rep, isolation exercises were garbage, I felt satisfied.  When he said machines were garbage, I felt content.  When he talked about building his home gym with a power rack and doing nothing but barbell movements while avoiding the usual commercial gym culture, I started dancing in my chair.

I'm not saying you can't build a good-looking body using various means.  I'm just pointing out that if all the people running around the gym doing cable cross-overs and BARBELL CURLS IN THE SQUAT RACKS decided to put half that effort into their deadlifts, we wouldn't have an obesity epidemic in this country.

So if you want to get big, train for strength.  If you want to get lean, train for strength.  If you want to get strong, train for strength.

Want to get off of some high blood pressure medication?
Train for strength.
Want broad shoulders?
Want steady blood sugar?
Want to look better naked?
Train for strength.

What's better than being strong?  How about being strong and smart?

Train for strength and crack a book.

Stay strong!
