I had only two training days last week and I continued to rehab my back. The last day was a squat day. I originally injured myself squatting, so this is the acid test. I thought it a bit strange that my deadlift days have gone almost unchanged. I feel little if anything and I've managed some moderate to heavy loads. Squat is a different story.
Unfortunately, while working up to what used to be the second set warm up of 315lbs, I could feel the injured site starting to stiffen and throb. I immediately dropped back down to lighter weights and worked my way all the way down to 135lbs. I completed what I imagined were technically perfect movements in higher rep ranges in order to help flush the injured area with blood. I am further along on my pec rehab and I am successfully completing sets with moderate weight. Today I am just stretching and resting. I feel the stiffness of my back and I know it will be at least a few more weeks before I can successfully put anything over 400lbs deep in the bucket. In the end, I feel lucky that I will be able to continue to focus on my deadlift, since I had been trying to reach a long forgotten goal of 600lbs @ 150lbs bodyweight. Even injured I know I am in the low 5's - high 4's. All is well.
