Make Time For Fitness 4

Here are the basic tools you'll need.  Having some ratchets make things a lot easier.

Here is the completed frame (skeleton) of the unit. If you have the tools and can make sure both guide bars are exactly alike, I would have done this prior to assembly. It makes the unit a little quieter. This is important if the only time you have to train is when others are sleeping.

It is surprising how long it seems to take to put this thing together, but it is definitely easier/shorter than doing most home projects or auto maintenance.  You should count on spending a few hours doing this unless you are mechanically gifted.

Here is the unit with covers minus pulleys. All that is left is to attach pulleys, pads, and final touches.

Here is the final product. It is a fairly small footprint for the number of resistance exercises that can be done. The unit comes with an exercise chart that shows you how to do the movements. It took me a day on and off to complete the project and my wife started using it the very next morning. The weight stack only holds a few plates but there is up to 210lbs of resistance depending on the exercise and resistance due to some of the friction.  Exercises from the lower pulley start at 57lbs and are beyond her at this point.  She will get there, but she can't start there.  It is important to note this limitation.

If you have something like this in your home and a jump rope, you are set.

To be continued ...
